After breakfast, depart north to Rabat, the elegant capital city of Morocco. Explore the iconic Hassan Tower — the minaret of an incomplete 12th-century mosque — and the adjacent Mohammed V Mausoleum, a stunning example of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.

Continue to the Oudaya Kasbah, a Berber fortress overlooking the Atlantic and the Bou Regreg river, with its painted blue-and-white streets and beautiful Andalusian garden. Visit the medina and the ancient Chellah necropolis. Overnight in Rabat.

Depart Rabat and travel east to Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities. Walk through the monumental Bab Mansour gate — one of the most beautiful gates in North Africa — visit the Royal Stables, the Heri es-Souani granaries, and the Jewish Mellah quarter.

Continue to Fes, checking into your boutique riad in the heart of the ancient medina. Spend the evening exploring the atmospheric lanes of Fes el-Bali as it comes alive after sunset. Overnight in Fes.

A full day immersed in Fes el-Bali, the world's largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With your expert guide, navigate the labyrinthine souks, discovering the city's legendary artisan quarters.

One of the most scenic driving days of the journey. Leave Fes and ascend into the Middle Atlas, stopping in Ifrane — Morocco's alpine town with its Swiss-style chalets, cedar forests, and Barbary macaques. Continue through Azrou and the cedar forest, often with wild monkeys by the roadside.

Descend through the dramatic Ziz Gorges and the Ziz Valley, a long ribbon of palms and oases cutting through arid red rock landscapes. Arrive in Erfoud, gateway to the Sahara. Overnight in Erfoud or Rissani.

Two unforgettable days in the Sahara desert. Arrive at Merzouga and the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes — golden sand mountains rising to 150 metres from the flat hamada plain. As the sun begins to set, mount your camels for a guided trek into the dunes, arriving at your private luxury desert camp as darkness falls.

Dinner under an infinite canopy of stars, traditional Berber music around the fire, and a profound silence broken only by the desert wind. Spend a second night at the camp, exploring the dunes at sunrise by quad bike or on foot, visiting the Gnawa musicians' village, and watching the desert come alive in the golden morning light. Begin with a visit to Ouarzazate itself — the Atlas Film Studios where Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones were filmed, and the beautiful Taourirt Kasbah in the old town. Continue to the legendary Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage kasbah village rising above the Ounila river bed.

Cross the High Atlas via the Tichka Pass (2,260m), with panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks. Stop at traditional Berber argan cooperatives where women produce Morocco's celebrated argan oil. Descend into the Haouz plain and arrive in Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech.

A full final day in Marrakech, the legendary red city. Begin at the ethereal Majorelle Garden — Yves Saint Laurent's iconic blue-and-yellow botanical sanctuary — then continue to the magnificent Bahia Palace with its gilded reception halls and peaceful courtyards. Visit the Saadian Tombs and admire the Koutoubia Mosque exterior.

Spend the afternoon at leisure in the medina souks — the dyers' quarter, spice market, lantern makers, and carpet sellers. As dusk approaches, join the extraordinary spectacle of Jemaa el-Fna square: storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, and food stalls filling the air with smoke and flavour. Transfer to Marrakech airport or your accommodation at your preferred time.
